My daughter parked herself on the floor to watch it draw a turtle, which is why her head is blocking the left side of the picture. The turtle card is poking up from the top slot and the pen is in the holder at the front. She stayed for the whole drawing and didn't ask for the tablet once.

Opened the box a few days before my son's birthday party to check that everything works. It's laid out neatly in the foam: SketchBot in the middle, a row of colored markers along the top, a stack of cards at each side and four black pens in the corners for the robot to draw with. It was up and drawing in about five minutes, so I'm glad I tested it ahead of the party.

Watching it draw the frog prince is my daughter's favorite part of summer break. The card is in the slot at the top, the markers are lined up on the left, and SketchBot just finished the frog. She says 'ribbit' every time the pen lifts.

SketchBot drew the outlines and my daughter colored every one of these flowers herself, then handed me the page for Mother's Day. The robot is just sitting on it for the picture, pen holder empty. She used to say she was bad at drawing, and now she asks for a fresh page every afternoon. She used the markers from the box and kept the green leaves inside the lines almost every time.

Dinner was barely over when we set it up at the dining table, so the plate and forks are still there. Sorry for the blurry picture, the kids were already grabbing for it. The arms went on easily, and then it was just a pen in the holder and a press of the big middle button.

Three drawings from one snowed-in afternoon: the frog with the crown, a camel with a very confused face and a little airplane. The lines wobble a bit, but that's half the charm, and my kids have been coloring them in ever since.

Christmas morning unboxing, and the box is packed like a little art kit: SketchBot in the foam tray, a pouch of twelve markers right behind it and a pile of cards on either side. The flap even says Listen, Learn, Draw, Play. My niece went straight for the big middle button before I'd even lifted the robot out.

First real drawing session at our craft table, and SketchBot is most of the way through a panda from the Animal Series card. The pink scribbles all over the table are from my 3 year old, who thinks everything is paper. He sat there and watched the whole panda, which almost never happens.

SketchBot

Rainy October weekend, hot chocolate, a stack of cards and two kids who haven't touched the tablet all day.

SketchBot

Ordering two more for Christmas gifts now, before the December rush. Ours has been used almost daily since last winter and still draws as well as the first day.

SketchBot

this is our second SketchBot, my sister's kids kept borrowing the first

SketchBot

Fall routine: homework first, then one card. My 8 year old says coloring the drawings in helps her unwind, and she asks for it before the tablet now.

SketchBot

Back to school shopping and I added this to the cart for the after-school hour. They come home wired, and watching it draw is the first thing that slows them down.

SketchBot

Birthday party activity for my daughter's 6th: every kid picked a card and colored their own drawing. Eight kids, twelve markers, zero meltdowns.

SketchBot

Great toy and my son uses it every day. I only wish there was a way to add new cards or use our own pictures, because he's seen his favorites about a dozen times. Four stars for that.

SketchBot

school starts Monday and the robot already has a spot in the after-school routine

SketchBot

my kids named it Pip and say good morning to it

SketchBot

Took it to my in-laws for the week and didn't have to pack any batteries. Grandpa ended up coloring with the kids all afternoon.

SketchBot

Too hot to go outside, AC on, markers out. We've done about twenty cards this week and the kids still ask for more.

SketchBot

My two girls surprised me with this on Father's Day, set it on the table and told me to pick a card. Now I'm the one hooked. I like watching it draw almost as much as they do.

SketchBot

It's the only screen-free thing my 7 year old will do for more than ten minutes.

SketchBot

Babysitting my niece and nephew this summer and this is my secret weapon. One card each, a pile of markers, and I get a quiet half hour.

SketchBot

End of the school year and the kids are already bored. This has taken care of the I'm-bored hour in the afternoons, one card at a time.

SketchBot

Mother's Day present from my kids and my husband, and I ended up using it more than they did. We sat at the table running card after card until dinner was late.

SketchBot

Teacher here: I brought it to my kindergarten class for the art table and the kids line up to pick a card. It's the first thing they ask for on Fridays.

SketchBot

mom of three and it's the one toy all three agree on

SketchBot

Card in, pen in the holder, press the big middle button. My 4 year old figured it out in a minute with zero help from me.

SketchBot

Our Easter gift for the whole family this year. The egg hunt lasted ten minutes, SketchBot lasted the whole afternoon.

SketchBot

Took it to my mom's house for the weekend and it worked right out of the bag. My mom, who doesn't do technology, was the one who kept pressing the middle button.

SketchBot

My 6 year old now draws her own pictures in the same order: a circle, then arms, then a face. She picked up the steps from watching the robot and from the steps on the back of each card.

SketchBot

Love the concept and my son is hooked. The lines come out a bit wobbly though, more enthusiastic kid than clip art. He doesn't mind at all, I'd just like them neater, so four stars from me.

SketchBot

Snow day number three and this is what kept two kids busy while I worked from the kitchen. They only interrupted me twice, both times to show me a drawing.

SketchBot

It recharges over USB, so no batteries to buy, which is why I picked it over the other drawing toys.

SketchBot

New rule at our house: one card, one coloring page, then dinner. It turned the pre-dinner meltdown hour into the calm hour.

SketchBot

Cold January and stuck inside, and this saved a lot of afternoons. They pick a card, watch it draw, color it, tape it to the fridge, repeat. Our fridge is covered.

SketchBot

I was skeptical about a drawing robot, but my daughter sat through a whole card from start to finish, which usually only happens with cartoons. Skeptic converted.

SketchBot

It says the word on each card, and my son is picking up animal names without me quizzing him. He yells turtle from across the room the second he hears it start.

SketchBot

easily the kids' favorite gift this year, no tablets since

SketchBot

My 3 year old ripped through the wrapping, looked at the face and said hi to it. That alone was worth it. It's been on the kitchen table ever since.

SketchBot

Santa brought this and my husband confessed he wants to use it too. We went through a whole stack of cards before lunch.
